Audrey Mullins
Audrey Mullins graduated from Crawford College of Art & Design, Cork in 1980 and subsequently completed a MA in Fine Art at the Royal Institute of Art & Design, Belfast. She has worked in London both as a professional artist, and art teacher since the 1980’s. Appointed Head of Art at Stoke Newington School & Media Arts College in January 2008, her students have been nominated for the Saatchi Youth award. Mullins was represented by the Leyden Gallery London at Art Gwangju 17, with a new body of work entitled 'The Language of Landscape'. She has worked in London both as a professional artist, and art teacher since the 1980’s.
AWARDS
Mullins was winner of the first and second Guinness Peat Aviation Award for Emerging Artists from the Arts Council of Ireland 1981 and 1982. She was awarded the first Bursary for Apprenticeships for Young Artists, to work with the Head of Painting, John Edwards, at St. Martins School of Art, 1982.In 1983 she won a Arts Council of Ireland Travel Scholarship to Yugoslavia and residency at the prestigious Tyrone Guthrie Centre, Northern Ireland in 1993.
EDUCATION PROJECTS
In 2009 she was involved with the Thames Festival project, Rivers of the World, in which Stoke Newington School will form a partnership with a school in India. (delivered in partnership with the British Council, Arts Council of England with support from HSBC Global Education Trust. Rivers of the World is a creative visual art and design project which links over 2000 young people around the world.
