A-Maze Artists' Collective is woman-led and includes practitioners of all ages & diverse cultural backgrounds with a wide range of artistic and technical skills. The collaboration grew out of a particular historical moment, the Covid19 pandemic. The crisis showed us how interconnected we all are and how, if we can just change one thing in our lives, it has an impact on everything else. The Collective promotes greater connectivity and collaboration between artists and inclusive cocreation with audiences. Fion Gunn initiated the Collective in March 2020.
Our areas of enquiry and inspiration include: displacement, migration, sustainability & climate change. We promote ethical consideration of these issues through realisation of virtual worlds using emerging digital tools and creation of multimedia blended exhibitions with collateral events. We reach out to audience-participants and include them in a cocreative process. The artists and other contributors collaborate via regular online meetings as we design and build our virtual artists' space discussing concepts, aesthetics, design, technical tools, production management, skillsharing and mentoring. We are committed to cross generational & cultural collaboration and foster transdisciplinary teamwork.
