Ardern Hulme-Beaman
Ardern Hulme-Beaman works in two main areas within the wider fields of digital heritage and natural sciences.
Within the field of natural sciences Hulme-Beaman works at the boundary between ecology, zoology and archaeology. He specialises in statistical analysis of shape and 3D model analysis to understand evolutionary trajectories of anatomical shapes in association with different anthropogenic environmental selective pressures.
Within the field of digital heritage, Hulme-Beaman works on the application and development of digital 3D capture methods, specifically structure from motion photogrammetry. He founded the University of Liverpool Photogrammetry Team in 2018 for research, development and dissemination of digital 3D methods, primarily focused on photogrammetry. In this capacity he led the team that produced the 3D models for Fion Gunn’s Arrivals/Departures App. This group included staff and students and saw organic growth to 36 members over a 2 year period. The group took a non-hierarchical approach to knowledge exchange, which allowed for a thriving student driven approach to research. In 2019, Hulme-Beaman expanded this to found the UK NW Photogrammetry Hub to take Photogrammetry team students to museums of the UK NW for research and knowledge exchange.

2021–2022 administered training of >100 museum professionals and volunteers across >30 different heritage institutions. This culminated in the publication of the NW hub virtual exhibition (December 2022), an eclectic mix of objects representing heritage collections across all participating institutions.
