BOUNDLESS: TRANSITIONS EXHIBITION
A.P.T. GALLERY, DEPTFORD
5-29 OCTOBER 2023

Boundless: Transitions was an immersive multi-media interactive exhibition with a range of collateral events.

The Project explored the theme of Diaspora in a planetary and a local Deptford context – a sensory journey where narratives of the natural world and human world coincide and collide. Stories of displacement include those of human/animal migrations, the movement of ideas and beliefs, the multi-perspective histories of Empire with its complex legacies and impacts.
Displacement/diaspora have shaped the mapping of our world culturally, socially, politically and philosophically since the dawn of the Anthropocene - migrations of plant/animal life on the planet predate human existence by millions of years.

Our exhibition & events promote deep engagement with the ideas and technologies used by the artists, a space where co-creation is encouraged, where outcomes will be exciting and evolving.

Our artworks/installations feature interactive embedded electronics, an immersive soundscape, 2D/3D works, projected films and olfactory elements. Alongside the physical exhibition we have created a virtual exhibition which can be accessed online, here leaving a legacy of the project going forward.

The Green Wings Project: Pioneering Sustainability and Societal Harmony

In an era where the critical issues of climate change and environmental sustainability have taken center stage, the "Green Wings Project" shines as a beacon of hope. This visionary initiative embarks on a transformative journey that explores the intricate interplay between our environment and the social fabric of our communities. As we confront the challenges of the 21st century, it's increasingly apparent that addressing environmental crises necessitates a holistic approach that transcends conventional boundaries.

Today, disposable electronic products have become ubiquitous in our daily lives, offering convenience but also imposing growing environmental pressures. Electronic waste is now a ubiquitous and overwhelming presence in our surroundings. Amid the mounting piles of electronic waste, there is an urgent need to discover sustainable development and recycling solutions. Enter the Green Wings Project (GWP), a proactive initiative committed to identifying scientifically sound and effective methods for safely recycling disposable electronic products.

At its core, the Green Wings Project represents a collaborative endeavour aimed at intricately weaving together the threads of our natural world and the rich tapestry of our society. The global energy crisis is a stark reality that we can no longer afford to overlook. Depletion of fossil fuels and the ecological toll of our energy consumption loom ominously on the horizon. The Green Wings Project recognises the pressing nature of this challenge and actively seeks innovative solutions that harmonize technological advancements with ecological sustainability. Ranging from harnessing renewable energy sources to embracing energy-efficient technologies, the project explores pathways leading to a greener and more sustainable energy future.

Our urban environments are rapidly expanding, often at the expense of fragile natural ecosystems. The Green Wings Project comprehends the vital importance of aligning urban development with the preservation of our natural world. Through sustainable architectural practices, the integration of green infrastructure, and urban planning that prioritizes environmental well-being, the project endeavors to reshape our cities into vibrant, sustainable hubs where humans and nature coexist harmoniously.

In an age marked by increased migration and the formation of diaspora communities, recognizing their role in shaping our world has become paramount. The Green Wings Project embraces the diverse perspectives and experiences that migration brings. Through the facilitation of dialogue, promotion of cultural exchange, and addressing the unique challenges faced by these communities, the project aims to construct bridges that transcend geographic boundaries. This effort connects us on both a global scale and a local level, as exemplified in its engagement with the Deptford community.

The Green Wings Project stands as a testament to the potent synergy of collaboration and innovation in tackling the intertwined challenges of fostering a sustainable environment and an inclusive society. It serves as a poignant reminder that we are not isolated entities but rather interconnected threads within the intricate fabric of our world. As we continue on our collective journey, guided by the visionary mission of projects like this, we draw closer to a future where the environment flourishes, urban landscapes thrive, and communities, both local and global, discover common ground, illuminating the path to a brighter tomorrow.
